Utilities / Aviation Specialists Inc. is a group of experienced, knowledgeable, safety-minded aviation professionals who all are in the business of saving lives.
Our goal is to provide you, as helicopter operators and crewmembers, with the skillsets to stay alive by always keeping safety in the forefront of your mind and to “Stay in Condition Yellow” so that you can return home safely every evening to your family and friends.
We specialize in providing aviation safety training, consulting and auditing services. We present courses such as “Flying in the Wire and Obstruction Environment & Crew Resource Management” to pilots and crewmembers to teach them how to avoid wire strikes by learning to read utility hardware and to work together cohesively as a team. For operators, we provide consulting on standard operating procedures and industry best practices, as well as other services. We also conduct aviation quality control and safety audits to help you to become the best operator you can be and to rise to your full potential.

Who We Are
UAS was established in 1985 by the current President of the company: Mr. Robert "Bob" A. Feerst.
With over 40 years of experience in the aviation industry, and having been a Journeyman lineman and manager of a utility flight department, Bob also understands the utility industry. He is a commercial pilot, rated in both fixed wing and rotary. He has a Bachelor's Degree from Purdue University and holds both a Master's Degree in Aviation Business Management and one in Aviation/Aerospace Operations from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University.
Bob has developed the company into a dedicated team of professionals who have made Utilities / Aviation Specialists Inc. the industry leader in aviation safety and consulting that it is today.
The UAS team is comprised of some of the most experienced and respected people in aviation safety management, off shore oil management, and training. The team works together to ensure that our clients benefit from their collective areas of expertise. These areas include: specialized training programs, aviation safety auditing, project management for utilities, installation of safety management systems, and technical aviation consulting to industries that employ helicopters in their daily operations.
UAS is world renowned for providing mission-specific expertise in specialized applications which require skill sets above those found in most routine transport operations. Our goal is to identify, substantially lower, and manage the risks associated with operating aircraft in these specialized environments through developing detailed safety procedures, installing engineering controls, conducting specialized safety audits, and providing mission-specific training.
All of our specialists have many years of experience operating aircraft in some or all of these particular applications and understand both the aviation and the non-aviation risks which must be considered when assessing safety margins and developing a safety and training program that works. We also understand the criticality of cost control and the need to get the most out of every dollar invested in improving or maintaining safe aircraft operations.
